The distinction between matter and mind is as old as philosophy. Even matter was differentiated into several categories. Over and above this there was differentiation between matter and energy. As modern physics emerges from the ruins of Newtonian thought, this distinction started disappearing gradually. Difference between different categories of matter and energy disappeared completely with Einstien's famous equation E= mc2. But in western bourgeois science mind still retains its separate identity. An obstinate monist like Albert Einstien's did not place mental energy in the category E.
