India's struggle for freedom was essentially a struggle of the Indian people to secure justice for themselves.Leadership played a significant role in articulating this natural aspiration of the subjugated people. Such articulation had occurred in a variety of forums such as the nationalist party platforms, the the nationalist press and the national and provincial legislative councils. The effectiveness of many of these forums in freeing the Indian people from the colonial yoke was examined soon after the advent of freedom by several eminent scholars. Vivid accounts describing the sage of this struggle were written area by area and decade by decade ; biographical accounts of the leaders who had plunged into this liberation struggle were also highlighted in sperate monographs.
