This book focusses on peasant movement in general in general and bakasht struggle in Bihar in particular in context of permanent settlement , consequent problem of the peasantry and state intervention- British and Congress ministries in the provinces. The cognitive contours of the All India Kisan Sabha and Bihar Provincial Kisan Sabha are examined. It was discovered that thought the Kisan Sabha was a United Front of the reformist and democratic sections of the Congress , the Congress Socialist Party and the Communist Party the consciousness os the Kisan Sabha spiralled from reformist Congress to Communist ideology.
