The early period of the history of the Communist Party of India falls naturally into three parts. The first part up to the end of 1922 is the background and was covered in the first volume; the second part, up to the end of the year 1925, covered in this volume is the foundation and third part up to the year 1929- the year of Meerut Conspiracy Case arrests- is the early period of mass activities. This last will be the subject of the third volume now in preparation.
